As regular readers will know, I regularly get most, if not nearly all, my finds from Etsy. It has been touted for years as the place to get handmade crafts made by the actual artists themselves. It promoted itself as anti-reseller...
WELL - they decided that all those hardworking, honest crafters and artists are really not worth it. They went against their very own policies (not surprisingly LOL) and FEATURED a reseller on their Front Page. When the shit hit the fan, not only did the reseller herself say she was a reseller, Etsy then turned around and said she WASN'T.

Well, after all that (and deleting ALL the comments on the Reseller Feature - OF COURSE) they posted this crap....worse bit is that they expected everyone to suck AND swallow!!
Well, suffice to say, I shut down my store with Etsy and sent a nice email to let them know why :)
Not that they will care.

So, it now looks like Etsy is NOT really there for Handmade Artists, but for the $$s of Resellers. Self Confessed Resellers at that!! Never mind that they shut down stores that had people helping with ONE aspect of the process when the seller/artist made everything else themselves, as long as you pay big, that's the bottom line now.
Now, I am on the lookout for a new platform to buy handmade, ethical items......

ReplyDeleteIt hit a huge audience while it lasted! Why not send chad dickerson a certified letter in the mail that he has to sign for? I hear many shops shutdown have to do this? It sucks. I am muted from forums. Peace!
